  This School May Not Be The Greatest Or Biggest School Around. But There Are Some Great Things Coming Out Of This Area. 2011 Division 5 Valley Champs for Girls Soccer. The Doctors Academy Program Is Excelling Every Year:) Being An Alumni I Loved It There. The Teachers Are Great And The Staff Is Awesome.

• Review of "Alvina Elementary School" at Caruthers

  I attended Alvina Elementary School in its original location, on the NW corner of Saginaw and Elm. My teachers were Mrs. Sinclair for grades 1 & 2, Mrs. Bixby for grades 3 & 4, Mrs. Anderson for grades 5 & 6, and Mrs. Barnes, the principal, for grade 7. Then we moved in 1953 so I did not graduate there. I had a good experience there. The instruction was old-fashioned, but quite rigorous. I don't think it hurt me at all. There was also a strong music program for a small school.
